Keep It Cool
Schedule an A/C tune-up before things get sticky
Swap filters, vacuum vents, and double-check ceiling fan settings (counterclockwise = breeze)
Bonus: Place portable fans in bedrooms or main living spaces
Refresh Outdoor Spaces
Inspect decks and patios for loose boards or mold
Deep-clean outdoor furniture, replace sad cushions
Confirm lighting is functional (and doesn’t attract an insect rave)
Grill + Chill (Safely)
Move grills away from anything flammable—3 feet side clearance, 9 feet vertical
Post signage reminding guests to not leave flames unattended
Leave water buckets and fire extinguishers nearby, just in case
Pools, Hot Tubs, and Toys
Hire pros to test water safety and balance
Post warning signs about supervision and water depth
Check bikes, kayaks, and golf carts—and include usage guidelines by age
Yard + Garden
Trim overgrowth around patios and decks
Check irrigation and sprinklers for leaks or blockages
Bugs? Not Today
Patch screens, seal gaps, and clean gutters
Schedule pest control in advance
Add citronella candles, bug spray, or repellent wipes for guest use✅ Stock citronella candles or bug wipes—guests notice when you think of these
